Today is our anniversary! September 1st of 2009 we rented our first 16 foot UNIT to a business owner that needed commercial storage. He had purchased another business’ equipment and was not ready to move the equipment into his current location. He needed commercial storage fast and we were happy to deliver.   Luck for us, our first 16 foot UNIT was delivered from the manufacturer minutes before we needed it!    Our customer rented for over 7 months and then we delivered his excess business inventory to a new location.  Another happy customer.

We were a new franchise with just two employees (really, owners). Fast forward one year to today. We have doubled our staff and have provided high quality containers and customer service to hundreds in the metro Milwaukee area. Growing a business during a recession is challenging, but we found the people of metro Milwaukee value good quality product and service at a completive price. Thanks Milwaukee for making our first year a success!

Whether you need residential or commercial storage or moving services in the metro Milwaukee area, call the UNITS‘ team at 414-476-unit (8648). We are looking forward to many more successful years.

UNITS Provides Temporary Storage

August 30th, 2010 | By admin in Container, Customer Service, Restoration, storage | No Comments »

IMG_1940[2]Southeast Wisconsin is sure getting its share of turbulent weather this summer.  Several weeks ago a tornado set down in Eagle Wisconsin and then parts of metro Milwaukee were flooded from heavy rain.   The review from google maps is from one such customer:

“I needed a UNITS quickly just for temporary storage because of basement flooding that had happened overnight. I called the number on the website at 5:50a just hoping to find out their hours to know when to call back. To my amazement and chagrin, Janelle answered!! She had been monitoring the weather (and her own basement), knew she’d be getting calls, and made sure to be available to any customer that needed their services. I got a UNITS by 12:30p that day, JJ was great and very flexible in helping me find the best spot to put the unit. You can tell each person really cares about providing their customers with the best experience possible, which is rare these days. They were definitely a bright spot in a day that wasn’t very much fun. Janet – 07/2010 ”

When you need temporary storage, let UNITS Mobile Storage of Milwaukee help you out!   Call us at 414-476-UNIT (8648).

Field Trip to the Morgan Plant – Where UNITS are Made!

March 12th, 2010 | By admin in Container | No Comments »

Morgan with Jim and JJMy business partner Jim and our driver JJ headed down to Janesville WI to tour the Morgan Plant where our moving UNITS are manufactured.  We feel good about purchasing our moving UNITS from a plant right here in southern Wisconsin.

After the tour, Jim said he now understands why our moving UNITS are so tough.  He saw firsthand the detail to attention and quality control.  It is what you would expect of a manufacturer in the heart land of Wisconsin.

Their trip was so great; they even brought back a new 16” UNIT as a souvenir!   This souvenir is available for rent by calling UNITS Mobile Storage at 414-476-8648.

Protect Your Belonging from Shifting While Moving

February 23rd, 2010 | By admin in Container, moving | No Comments »

photo1nls19280s1sh[1]Only UNITS’ storage and moving units come with the unique E-track (or ERack) system to secure your belongings during transit.  Once your storage and moving unit is on the road, your belongings are subject to sifting due to pot holes, short stops and freeway ramps.  The E-track system allows you to fasten your belongings to the interior walls of the storage and moving unit.  Now your belongings are secure during transit, loading and unloading.  While our competition promotes its zero-include loading our E-track system secures your belongings during the entire loading, uploading and transit process.

Call UNITS Mobile Storage of Milwaukee at 414-476-8648 (UNIT) for your storage and moving unit reservation.  Mention coupon “50% off E-strap” and receive 50% off the rental price for e-straps!  Discount may not be combined with other discounts.  Discount expires 9/1/2010.

Wisconsin’s Most Sturdy Portable Storage Container

February 9th, 2010 | By admin in Container, Customer Service, Remodeling, Restoration, moving, storage | No Comments »

photoy66ed9sldp50[1]If you are planning to move or renovate your home, you’ll probably need portable storage.  Before selecting a portable storage company, do your homework.  When you compare companies, be sure you ask how the portable storage container is constructed.  For example, it’s important that the container has an integrated roof system (vs. a roof cap) to ensure it is watertight.  Ask about the method for strapping your belongings to the walls.  This is the best way to keep your belongings stable during transit on and off the freeway.  You will want something substantial to attach the strapping to, not just an eye hook.  And, don’t forget to inquire about what the container is made of.  You will want a sturdy container made of steel and fiberglass (vs. wood and tarps).  Wood invites moisture, mold and insects.  Lastly, you need to know whether the company has a secure warehouse that is heated to ensure your belongings remain safe from the elements.

With just a little research, you’ll be able to make a sound decision that will pay dividends and afford you peace of mind.  Call UNITS Mobile Storage of Milwaukee  (Wisconsin’s portable storage company with local customer service) at 414-476-8648 to reserve your UNIT today.

Portable Storage Container Business

”If someone would have told us a few years ago that we’d be in the moving and storage business, I would’ve have just laughed…”  – Milwaukee Business Journal November 6, 2009.  That quote came from an interview I had with Meg Ciccantelli of The Business Journal.   When the moving and storage industry went mobile, I knew this innovation was something big.  Portable storage containers (some people call them pods and I have an idea about that, but will save that for another blog) that can be delivered, packed and stored or moved made the business opportunities in the moving and storage industry exploded exponentially.   Portable storage containers can be used in renovation, remodeling, local and state-to-state moving, inventory management, home de-cluttering and staging, seasonal storage and furniture storage, just to name a few.

Call us at 414-476-8648 and mention seeing us in the Milwaukee Business Journal and I will give you $25 off the first month’s rent on one of our UNITS storage container.  (Limit one discount per customer)

SOS: Need Packing Help

November 9th, 2009 | By admin in Container | No Comments »

moving-tipsMany of our customers at UNITS ask how to pack their belongings.  I respond carefully!  Okay, really there are many things to consider when packing: weight of boxes, durability of belongings, and ease of access.  Start with lots of high quality boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap and have a scisscor and sharpie on hand.  Here are a few of my personal favorite packing tips to help get the job done:

  • Do not over pack boxes; bulging box sides can damage surrounding boxes and not protect what is inside.
  • Place liquid containers in plastic bags to reduce the chance of leaking.
  • Reinforce boxes with an extra strip of packing tape!
  • Place heavy items in the bottom of the box and lighter ones on top.
  • Remove light bulbs from lamps before packing.
  • Place lamp shades in boxes to protect from denting.
  • Never pack any item that could cause a fire or damage to the UNIT (no toxic materials, gas, kerosene, fireworks, loaded firearms)
  • Pack items from the same room in the same box to make unpacking easier.
  • Pack some everyday, so you are not overwhelmed with packing all in one day.

I hope these tips help when packing your UNITS storage container.  Remember UNITS of Milwaukee is only a phone call away (414-476-8648) when you need some advice.  Check out these additional packing tips from our web site.  Happy packing!

Storage and Moving Made Easy

Inside of our structurally secure container.

Inside of our structurally secure container.

Your stuff is important to you.  That is why we have gone out of our way to provide you with the most secure, lightest, most water tight storage container in the industry – especially for our Wisconsin climate.  Our containers feature steel frame construction, reinforced fiberglass bodies, and an integrated translucent roof, which allows natural light in and keeps rain out.  Every UNIT is made with breathable materials, which means there is no mold or moisture build-up to damage your belongings.

Our ground level access makes loading and unloading easy.  The translucent roof allows light to filter through to aid with better visibility during the packing and unpacking process.

All our storage containers feature the E-strap system which allows items to be strapped right to the UNIT frame.  You will have piece of mind knowing your belongings are secure and dry and not subjected to damage that is possible with traditional moving and storage services.
