UNITS Provides Temporary Storage

IMG_1940[2]Southeast Wisconsin is sure getting its share of turbulent weather this summer.  Several weeks ago a tornado set down in Eagle Wisconsin and then parts of metro Milwaukee were flooded from heavy rain.   The review from google maps is from one such customer:

“I needed a UNITS quickly just for temporary storage because of basement flooding that had happened overnight. I called the number on the website at 5:50a just hoping to find out their hours to know when to call back. To my amazement and chagrin, Janelle answered!! She had been monitoring the weather (and her own basement), knew she’d be getting calls, and made sure to be available to any customer that needed their services. I got a UNITS by 12:30p that day, JJ was great and very flexible in helping me find the best spot to put the unit. You can tell each person really cares about providing their customers with the best experience possible, which is rare these days. They were definitely a bright spot in a day that wasn’t very much fun. Janet – 07/2010 ”

When you need temporary storage, let UNITS Mobile Storage of Milwaukee help you out!   Call us at 414-476-UNIT (8648).

Moving Checklist – 6 Weeks Before Moving

  • Make list of items that are valuable or difficult to replace (grandma’s gold ring, passports, etc) and plan on carrying them with you or shipping by certified mail.
  • Make list of friends, family and businesses that need to be notified of your move.
  • Start working your way through each room taking inventory and deciding what to get rid of and what to move.  Start planning a yard sale or donating items to local charities.  Moving is a great time to recycle items you no longer need.
  • Plan to use up items or dispose of items that cannot be moved, such as frozen foods, gasoline, kerosene and paint thinner.  Remember, no combustibles, plants, or animals can be stored in a portable storage unit.
  • Dispose of flammables, corrosives and poisons.  Contact your municipality for safe means of disposal.
  • Subscribe to the newspaper in your new town to start learning about events and local culture.

UNITS delivers portable storage units as far south as Racine and Kenosha counties.  Phone UNITS of Milwaukee at 414-476-8648 with moving and packing questions.

Wisconsin’s Most Sturdy Portable Storage Container

February 9th, 2010 | By admin in Container, Customer Service, Remodeling, Restoration, moving, storage | No Comments »

photoy66ed9sldp50[1]If you are planning to move or renovate your home, you’ll probably need portable storage.  Before selecting a portable storage company, do your homework.  When you compare companies, be sure you ask how the portable storage container is constructed.  For example, it’s important that the container has an integrated roof system (vs. a roof cap) to ensure it is watertight.  Ask about the method for strapping your belongings to the walls.  This is the best way to keep your belongings stable during transit on and off the freeway.  You will want something substantial to attach the strapping to, not just an eye hook.  And, don’t forget to inquire about what the container is made of.  You will want a sturdy container made of steel and fiberglass (vs. wood and tarps).  Wood invites moisture, mold and insects.  Lastly, you need to know whether the company has a secure warehouse that is heated to ensure your belongings remain safe from the elements.

With just a little research, you’ll be able to make a sound decision that will pay dividends and afford you peace of mind.  Call UNITS Mobile Storage of Milwaukee  (Wisconsin’s portable storage company with local customer service) at 414-476-8648 to reserve your UNIT today.

Get a Storage Unit and De-stress Your Next Move

Let UNITS delivery your storage unit to your home.

The average person moves 7 times during their life.  I know it sounds high, but I have moved 6 times in my adult life already.  I have used a friends truck/trailer, the rented moving truck and professional movers, but the next move will be with a storage unit.

My first 6 moves where before portable storage units where available.   I would have to go through the hassle of finding a rental truck available when I needed it, have a friend drive me to the rental truck office, which was never close to my house.  Then I would get the truck, after waiting in line, only to discover my rental truck was last used by a smoker and had squeaky breaks.  I would maneuver the truck to my home and then start the process of loading my belongings up the ramp.  I was fortunate to have friends help load the truck because it is hard work to carry belongings up that steep ramp.   One move we were caught in a rain storm, but we had to keep loading because I only rented the truck for one day.  I thought the ramp was hard to manage before, but when it was wet it became very slippery.   This is when you spring for lunch and treat your friends to homemade chocolate chip cookies.

After loading, I would drive to my new location and the entire process would start over, but in reverse order.  We would unload quickly because I only had one day.  I would race to gas up the truck and make it back to the rental truck office before it closed, being followed the whole time by a friend because I would need a ride back to my house from the rental truck office.   The moving day was filled with stress!

Now that storage units are available in Milwaukee there is an alternative to rental trucks for moving, unless you enjoy being stressed out.  Since the storage units are delivered to your home, you do not need to drive a rental truck through town.  You will have plenty of time to load and unload because one day costs the same as one month.  De-stress your move by packing and unpacking at your convenience and when the weather is good.  The storage units load at ground level so no more slippery ramp.   Moving is stressful enough, decrease that stress level and call UNITS Mobile Storage of Milwaukee for your storage unit at 414-476-8648.
